In 1999 I had in mind the preparing of a book richly illustrated about prehistory and antiquity on the Romanian territory. In the books published so far hundreds of years of civilisation have been ignored. In school textbooks there's little mentioning of the ancient epoch. Official history begins with Burebista. Ignoring and not knowing the ancient civilisations and cultures from our territory lead to ridiculous public enthusiasm without any historic foundation as ‘Tartaria slates' and all this sort of things which the internet is full of. I've made some reconstructions but very few because most of the collaborations with historians, architects or archaeologists hadn't developed the way I hoped(many Romanian scholars are usually tight-fisted regarding information, even with published one) and the selection of the documentation has a slow development. In the meantime, I finished the illustrations for ‘the Coming to Being of the Romanian Nation' on Neagu Djuvara's text. But I haven't introduced there several illustrations that I had made until then. I'm now gathering material for a book only about Dacians and their ancestors(Neolithic and The Age of Bonze) and also on the Roman and Greek civilisations as a professional answer to the fanatics so called dacologues which scattered the Internet with nationalist nonsense. |
